Reading claims on new CPG SKUs without getting distracted

Front-of-pack lines multiply quickly in personal care and beverages. A calm way to compare them keeps the competitive set usable.

New SKUs often arrive with stacked claims: natural cues, functional benefits, origin stories, and size architecture all competing for the same few centimetres of pack.

In our dossiers we group claims into three columns—primary benefit, supporting cue, and regulatory or origin note—then compare only within the same column. Mixing ‘vitamin C’ with ‘family size’ muddies the conversation.

We also record where the claim lives: front panel, neck tag, shrink sleeve, or secondary display card. A claim that appears only on a display wrap may vanish once the wrap is gone.

Vietnamese-language and English dual packs deserve a separate line in the log. Retail buyers and shoppers do not always weight those panels the same way, and a launch can look different depending on which language you read first.

The goal is not to score creativity. It is to keep a clean record of what each rival is asking the shopper to believe at the shelf.
