What mini-marts reveal that hypermarkets hide
Smaller formats in Binh Thanh and neighbouring districts often show which SKUs survive without a large gondola story.
Hypermarket aisles can make almost any new pack look important for a short time. Mini-marts have less forgiveness: limited facings, tighter backroom space, and faster decisions about what stays.
When we include mini-mart stops in a shelf observation day, we often see which flavour variants and pack sizes are actually moving through neighbourhood demand rather than event displays.
Delists also show earlier in small formats. A SKU that vanishes from three mini-marts while still smiling from a hypermarket end-cap is worth a careful note in the launch log.
For teams building distribution plans, mini-mart evidence is a useful counterweight to banner-level optimism. It will not describe every traditional channel, but it grounds the conversation in constrained shelf reality.
Our coverage page lists how we balance banner types inside a city sample so clients know what kind of signal they are buying.
